War has erupted in France…a Post-it® war that is. Its origins can be traced back to Ubisoft’s office and a bank across the street (BNP) in Montreuil. Ubisoft began by creating a few characters from the classic game Space Invaders and BNP quickly retaliated with an image of the laser canon from the same game.

Free Friday: FIGMENT NYC
If you’ve ever been to the Squeaky loft, you’d know by our abundance of artwork that we are big advocates of art and culture. We believe that culture fuels innovation and we love that our city is filled with exciting art-filled events such as FIGMENT.
Dalton Ghetti: Master of the Miniscule
When we were introduced to Dalton Ghetti and his intricate and miniature sculptures carved into the tips of pencils, we were in awe. The Brazilian-born, Connecticut-based artist has been perfecting his craft for the past 25 years. He uses a razor, a sewing needle and a sculpting knife to carve into the graphite and his pieces take anywhere from a month to years to create, giving the phrase, “patience is a virtue” a whole new meaning.

Jay Maldonado for Zoo York: Locals Only
Zoo York has teamed up with NY photographer and skater Jay Maldonado. The L.E.S native (he grew up in La Guardia housing projects on Clinton St.) captured beautiful images of a day in the life of New Yorkers for the Locals Only board series.
The stark B&W portraits captured the grit and texture of NYC street corners. He admits when he goes out shooting, he’s looking to capture some sort of moment so he can get across the right feeling. And when you go through his work, he’s spot on.
On shooting with NYC as a backdrop, Jay couldn’t ask for more:
“There are so many different things to shoot, so many different people, buildings. Not every corner is alike and not to mention the great landscape as your back drop. I couldn’t ask for anything better as a backdrop.“
We totally agree. Read Zoo York’s interview with Jay.

Luchador Masks Debut at the Squeaky Loft

When you step into the Squeaky Loft you instantly notice two things we embrace more than anything, Culture and Art. Having said that, it made complete sense to purchase 20 luchador masks and plant them on our wall. Stop by the loft to check them out. They look ridiculously awesome. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
