Free Friday: Color iPhone App

Color

Color, is the latest innovation in photo sharing technology, allowing you to view photos of everyone around you using the app. Just download the free app for iPhone and immediately you are fed a stream of photos from anyone and everyone using the app around you.

The technology used is pretty unique in that it doesn’t just feed you photos from those around you but it actually determines anyone who frequently uses the app within your proximity, assumes you are friends and will continue to share photos from that person. It essentially adds these people to your network and any photos you comment on, or like, will in turn also become part of your Color network.

One of the really cool features is the location aspect. Color will feed you photos from the past based on your location. So if you take a trip somewhere, any photos taken in that area will be fed to you as well.

Every photo on Color is public and is shared with everyone. This app has so much potential beyond just group photo sharing, it’s a way to meet new people, to keep up with what your friends are doing.

Quora, the fairly new social network is slowly on the rise. Their premise is simple: Ask questions and let the world answer it. Many Anticipating The Social Network Movie

After viewing the trailer we’re looking forward to the upcoming Social Network movie based off the creation of the Facebook empire. Coming out October 1, the movie surprisingly seems to carry a certain depth to it depicting a crafty dark side to questioned founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. Whether or not this depiction is accurate it still makes one think what a person will do to become exceedingly wealthy and famous.

On a separate movie note, if you’re into pop art check out the documentary, Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child, running for a limited engagement. It gives one a great appreciation of the NY social scene in the 80’s.

Diaspora: Open Source Social Network Could Take Down Facebook?

There’s been a bunch of news lately regarding Facebook’s privacy issues and it’s only a matter of time before some people of genius create a platform that allows users to have complete control over the data they share within their networks. Well that time is now, with the development of an open source social network called Diaspora. Fully funded through Kickstarter, this platform will act as a “do it all, privacy aware social network.” Every single person will have the opportunity to install their own fully controlled existence within the network. In concept, this sounds amazing. It’s too early in the game to think Diaspora will create an immediate dent on Facebook’s global presence. We just think it’s this type of thinking and development that will help lead the charge to combat privacy issues, while still maintaining a high level of entertainment value for the user.
